NorthWind Technical Services has been named the 2026 Governor’s Exporter of the Year by the Kansas Department of Commerce, recognizing the company’s growth and contributions to the global manufacturing industry.
The award was presented October 8 at the 2026 To The Stars: Kansas Business Awards ceremony in Overland Park, where businesses and entrepreneurs from across Kansas were recognized for their contributions to the state’s economy and communities.
For NorthWind, the recognition reflects a journey that began nearly 30 years ago by Mike and Marlene Bosworth in Sabetha, Kansas.
Today, NorthWind provides advanced automation, control systems, and digital solutions to manufacturing facilities here in the US and internationally. From electrical design and control panel construction to plant-wide systems, manufacturing software, and AI Software Solutions, the company helps manufacturers improve operations, connect data, and make better-informed decisions.
While NorthWind’s reach has expanded well beyond Kansas, its roots remain an important part of the company’s story. With its headquarters in Sabetha and additional offices in Kansas City, Kansas, and San José, Costa Rica, NorthWind continues to grow its international presence, while maintaining the relationships and customer focused service that have helped shape the business.
The Governor’s Exporter of the Year award highlights the important role Kansas companies play in the global marketplace. NorthWind’s recognition also demonstrates how a company built in a rural Kansas community can develop specialized expertise that serves manufacturers worldwide.
“We’re proud of the team and the work that has brought us to this point,” said Matt Bosworth, COO, NorthWind Technical Services. “In 2013 we began exporting to Latin America. Since then, our export business to that region has grown and in 2019 we opened an office in Costa Rica. It’s exciting to see a company here in rural America providing automation to manufacturers in Central and South America.”
NorthWind is grateful to its employees, customers, partners, and community for being part of that journey. Their continued support and collaboration have helped the company grow while staying true to the values that have guided it from the beginning.
As NorthWind looks to the future, the company remains focused on helping manufacturers solve challenges, embrace new technologies, and build more connected and efficient operations.
