Human Resources Generalist

HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the company as related to Human Resources matters. The Human Resources Generalist manages the administration of the HR policies, procedures, programs, and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: documentation, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, compliance, organizational development, and employment. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Executive Vice President and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • recruiting and staffing logistics
  • performance management and improvement systems
  • assists with establishment of in-house employee training system including training needs assessment, new employee orientation and management development
  • employment and compliance ​to regulatory concerns and reporting
  • maintains employee training records
  • develop policies and procedures to create a workforce that aligns with strategic goals of the company
  • employee relations to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote high level of employee morale and motivation
  • company employee communication
  • compensation and benefits administration
  • employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
  • employee services and counseling
  • maintains employee-related databases; prepares reports necessary to carry out HR functions of the company
  • participates in the conduct of investigations of employee complaints and progressive discipline
  • assists with implementation of company safety and health programs; tracks and posts OSHA-required data and files reports
  • provides payroll processing backup support; assists accounting with maintenance of the payroll database.
  • assists with day-to-day benefits administration; develops and schedules benefits training

 Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Excel as well as demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills

 Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required

Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred

 Physical Abilities/Work Environment:

Includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Typing, communicating effectively, analyzing data, and organization
  • Viewing information on a computer screen and reading for significant lengths of time
  • Working in a typical office environment
