AI & Digital Transformation Seminar Recap

NorthWind recently hosted its first seminar focused on Digital Transformation and AI in process automation. The event provided a space for attendees to learn about enhancing their process and new technologies as well as network with industry experts. With presentations and case studies from our industry partners on guiding manufacturers along their digital transformation journey, each manufacturer went away ideas and plans for enhancing their process.

Educational Sessions:

  • Reese Tyson from Inductive Automation opened the seminar with “Laying the Right Foundation for Digital Transformation.”
  • Mark Sailer and Lance Schutlz with KLN Family Brands and Nathan Karmer with NorthWind Technical Services co-presented a case study on MES (Manufacturing Execution System) implementation.
  • Udaya Kumar from Rockwell Automation discussed “Embracing Smart Manufacturing: Trends, Challenges, and Technological Solutions.”
  • Jay Pokorny from Extru-Tech covered Digital Twin Analytics.
  • Zoe Nengite from Palantir spoke on “Connecting AI to Operational Decision Making.”
  • Bill Ward from Northslope Technolgies, along with Michael Bosworth from NorthWind, co-presented a case study on AI and Large Language Models for process automation.
NorthWind Innovation Tour

The following day, attendees joined NorthWind for a hands-on tour at our Sabetha, KS headquarters to explore the latest innovations. Key tour stops included:

  • Electrical Design: Attendees learned about NorthWind’s streamlined electrical design process, including the use of eView software for digital twins and finalized drawings.
  • Wearable Technology: Technicians demonstrated wearable tech for hands-free, collaborative work.
  • Advanced Panel Manufacturing: Participants toured the panel shop, learning how advanced machinery and Smart Wire Panel interfaces integrate seamlessly with the electrical design team.
  • New Operator Experience: Visitors got a preview of our customizable graphical interface for operators.
  • Data Collection with Vision Sensors: Attendees discovered how vision sensors enhance efficiency and accuracy through automated quality measurements.
  • AI Solution Demo: A live demonstration showcased NorthWind’s AI solutions, including PantIQ Assistant and Alarm IQ.
